Tank testing of Waveberg wave energy converter
Waveberg tank test data guide:
The files are in alphabetical order after the first sub file; this file contains earlier versions of the master analysis file. As I was working, I would take a graph and drop it into the draft final report, since I did not understand the data traceability requirements. This file has them all. Older Test Results Stevens files, may be source for graphs
Excel: Calibration conundrum Waveberg new calibration new measurements 2025-01-09 This file gathers all calibration data and reduces it to the final parameters. The Model Arm was raised and lowered a fixed distance while the rotary encoder ran. Below line 80 the data is analyzed.
Word: Data cleaning and processing for model Gives an overview of what was done and how interpreted
Excel: Model scale STTR corrected 2024-03-04 Gives dimensions and various minor concerns for the device at many scales. This model was 1:25 as built.
Excel: Pump MVI 451 analysis 2024-11-21 This file includes all data from my work characterizing the pump used in the tests. This was done 2023-2024, seeking a way to separate useful work from friction and water flow losses.
Quicktime video: Quick video tank test in basic wave 2023-06-13 This little movie shows the model in the standard wave 1.4 sec, 40 mm H. Enjoy!
Excel: Stevens Waveberg Test Data Log correct 2023-10-06 Shows run data recorded on the Stevens side, which includes still water tests.
JPG IMU refer to pictures of the documentation for the Inertial Measurement Unit, the cube that sat on the center of gravity of the rear body. It recorded Pitch, among other things, but pitch matters as it is opposite and adds to front arm pumping. This data was not used in the tank test analysis; it is here only for completeness.
JPG Pulse signal explanation TF files 2023-08-09 Shows the signal which initializes data recording for all instruments.
Excel: Test Data complete their side with pitch degrees 2023-06-27 Same as above but with the pitch data in columns S & T.
Excel: Test results Stevens cleaned with analysis 2025-03-03 This is the main analysis file. It takes the original data in Runs and ends up with a Capture Width Ratio (CWR) matrix which is tested in the Portugal tab. Results of power production are shown there to be lower than those from the 2009 tests, as discussed in the Final Report.
Excel: Wave Data Analysis wave height US and Mooring_Waveberg Feb 2024 This file from Stevens shows the wave height data from the two wave wires and the mooring load, which has been processed from raw data in some way, they never explained.
Excel: Wave wire discrepancy 2023-11-09 This is my quick statistical analysis of the wave height discrepancies from the file above.
Excel: Waveberg Heave & Pitch RAOs 2023-09-25 Stevens delivered this file. .It was not used in my analysis of the tank tests. It may have been used in the numerical model grant.
