Experimental Study of a Dual Function Oscillating Water Column with Slotted Barrier for Shore Protection and Wave Energy Extraction

In curation License

Ten sharp-edged orifice plates were mounted onto ten pneumatic Oscillating Water Column (OWC) chambers integrated into a breakwater array installed in the wave basin. The OWC chambers were attached to a slotted barrier, where two porosities were tested, 10% and 25%. Experiments were conducted under regular, random, and angled incident wave conditions, at two different water depths. Data acquisition included 24 wave gauges, 8 Acoustic Doppler Velocimeters (ADVs), a force balance, 10 differential air pressure sensors, 3 ultrasonic sensors, and one anemometer. These instruments were deployed throughout the wave basin and mounted on the model. README.pdf located in UHOWCBarrier/ docs file includes relevant information to navigate the repository of data. Instrument locations are detailed in docs/setup/instm_locations, test conditions are provided in: data/txt//Trial#/standard.txt, calibrated data structures are available in MATLAB format at: data/mat//Trial#.mat, and raw data are available in data/raw/txt.
