EE0010979 Oneka IceCube

This data submission contains the foundational technical design, baseline field validation, and long-term testing datasets compiled during Budget Period 1 (BP1) of the Oneka IceCube project (DOE Award No. DE-EE0010979). The included files document the iterative Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and emergency relief optimization of the wave-powered, non-electric desalination buoy system. The primary focus of this package is the operational, financial, and durability data generated to de-risk marine-facing subsystems, suppress mechanical wear, and establish baseline performance metrics against international marine energy standards.

The technical files and datasets bundled within this submission include:
- Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) Report (D3.2.1): Design blueprints, structural modifications, and layout improvements for the IceCube Prototype #1 buoy (internal identifier C2). Includes numerical hydrodynamic modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) structural stress profiles, and comprehensive system risk assessments conducted via HAZOP and FMEA methods.
- IEC Standards Benchmark Report (D4.0.2): A technical compliance assessment evaluating the marine engineering, structural limit states, and safety architecture of the IceCube Prototype #1 design against international marine energy standards under IEC TS 62600-2 (Design Requirements) and IEC TS 62600-10 (Mooring Systems).
- Techno-Economic Analysis & LCOW Report (D3.3.1): A full cost breakdown structuring the project's fixed Capital Expenditures (CapEx) against forecasted testing-period Operational Expenditures (OpEx) projected over a 5-year asset lifespan to calculate the preliminary Levelized Cost of Water (LCOW).
- Preliminary Field Testing Report (D5.4.1): Technical performance logs documenting the initial 30 days of parallel, in-ocean trials off Fort Pierce, Florida. This dataset directly tracks real-world uptime, telemetry data, and structural performance comparing a baseline conservative buoy configuration against an experimental R&D prototype evaluating a lightweight "jumping" anchor and an integrated self-cleaning strainer.
- Long-Term Field Testing Report (D5.4.2): A comprehensive 90-day multi-device operational history logging the complete field testing window for the Prototype #1 buoys. This package includes transient failure analysis data (such as main line bend-over-sheave fatigue, fluid connection failures, and waterproof DAQ updates) alongside binned wave-to-flow performance metrics mapped on a process plant testbench.
- Historical Baseline Assessment Report (D1.3.1): An early-stage engineering report evaluating the 90-day field performance, operational vulnerabilities, and structural data collected from the first-generation, pre-existing IceCube unit. This historical framework documents initial trials in Cow Bay, Nova Scotia, tracking systematic weaknesses (such as severe water hammer peaks and delaminated lines) to establish the baseline metrics that directly informed the Prototype #1 updates.
- Prototype 1 Build Gate Package (D4.0.1): The manufacturing blueprint repository containing detailed subsystem engineering drawings, isolated Bills of Materials (BOMs) with detailed material lists, and step-by-step manufacturing and pump work instructions required to replicate the asset.
