HERO WEC V2 - 2026 LAMP Test Processed Data

In progress License

The following submission includes processed data from the 2026 Hydraulic and Electric Reverse Osmosis Wave Energy Converter (HERO WEC) V2 lab testing conducted using NLR?s Large Amplitude Motion Platform (LAMP). An overview of the motion profiles run during testing along with the WEC configuration for each test can be found in the run log document. Data was collected in the form of Technical Data Management Streaming (TDMS) files using NLR?s Modular Ocean Data AcQuisition (MODAQ) and EtherCAT Data Acquisition System (EDAS). Raw TDMS files from this test program can be found in MHKDR submission #729. Data from these TDMS files was then processed using Matlab and Python to perform Quality Control (QC) checks and to resample the data to the design sampling frequency of each sensor group. The processed data is saved in the form of parquet files. For tests in the drivetrain and hydraulic configurations, all data has been resampled to the buoy group timestamps and is saved in a single parquet file for each test. For electric configuration tests, the buoy and RO data has been resampled to the buoy group timestamps and is saved in a single parquet file, while the onshore AC and DC data is save in two additional parquet files due to the large difference in sampling frequency between these sensor groups. A description of each data array along with instrumentation and system layout information can be found in the data description document.

This data set has been developed by the National Laboratory of the Rockies, operated by Alliance for Energy Innovation, LLC, for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under contract No. DE-AC36-08GO28308. Funding provided by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation Hydropower and Hydrokinetic Office.
