TEAMER: MantaWave Wave Energy Converter Performance Assessment
This dataset comprises of raw numerical simulation data conducted on a novel nearshore at-surface wave energy converter (WEC). The numerical model testing aimed to provide an evaluation of a novel mooring system for the MantaWave WEC.
This project (RFTS14) is part of a continuation of the TEAMER RFTS 10 (Request For Technical Support) program. This data builds upon the research and publication carried out in RFTS 10 regarding a unique half submerged, bi-wing buoy that extracts surge and heave motions to generate electricity. To produce this raw data, Laminar Scientific Inc. has engaged AMOG Consulting Inc. to carry out a numerical analysis to analyze the performance of the novel mooring system.
This subset of data provides the raw time history data and scripts used through multiple phases of the project as specified through the scope of work stated in the final report (RFTS14_LS_MantaWave_WEC_Test_Plan_Report_IP_Highlighted_Rev0). The report will be added to this submission once it becomes publicly available.
The folders provided in this submission are as follows:
- Base_Model_With_Drogue
- Iteration_1_No_Drogue
- Iteration_2_With_Drogue_@_2.0_Scale_Oblong_Buoy
- OrcaFlex_API_Code
- Readme
In the folders, there consists of raw data in .csv files with specified model names (see included README File for more information on how to read the file names). These files are named according to the model iteration, wave height and wave period.
In each .csv, data that was deemed necessary for the conduct of the project are labeled with units in SI. Accompanying each iteration folder, a Julia/Python Script is provided that was used to create the plots used in the final report.
This project is part of the TEAMER RFTS 14 (request for technical support) program.
