TEAMER: Stage 2 Resource Assessment Study of Long Island Sound Tidal Resource in New York State Waters Based on Numerical Modeling - 5-Year Release
This dataset comprises high-resolution Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM) hydrodynamic model output for a portion of eastern Long Island Sound developed under a TEAMER RFTS 13 project with Verdant Power, with technical assistance from PNNL. The project applied a high fidelity numerical modeling framework consistent with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TS 62600 201 guidelines for a Stage 2 tidal stream energy resource assessment over a site of interest to Verdant: i.e., the "Project Area". Four potential tidal energy converter (TEC) array configurations were simulated in the Project Area with PNNL's FVCOM-TEC module, as well as a baseline simulation with no TECs. The four TEC simulations have 20, 20, 60, and 90 TECs, and correspond to Array 1.8, Array 1.9, Array 2.2, and Array 3.2 in the provided Post Access Report.
The dataset includes 3D east-west (u) and north-south (v) current components, 3D turbulent kinetic energy (TKE), and water levels in the Project Area over a 30-day period for the baseline simulation and the four TEC simulations. A 30-day time series of extracted power at each TEC for each TEC simulation is also included.
