TEAMER: Stage 2 Resource Assessment Study of Long Island Sound Tidal Resource in New York State Waters Based on Numerical Modeling, Immediate Release
This dataset comprises high-resolution Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM) hydrodynamic model output for a portion of eastern Long Island Sound developed under a TEAMER RFTS 13 project with Verdant Power, with technical assistance from PNNL. The project applied a high fidelity numerical modeling framework consistent with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TS 62600 201 guidelines for a Stage 2 tidal stream energy resource assessment over a site of interest to Verdant: i.e., the "Project Area". Four potential tidal energy converter (TEC) array configurations were simulated in the Project Area with PNNL's FVCOM-TEC module, as well as a baseline simulation with no TECs.
The dataset includes depth averaged east-west (u) and north-south (v) current velocities, corresponding power densities, and water levels in the Project Area over a 30-day period for the baseline simulation.
